Screamin Meanie
44
I skate for the home team champions, 12 Gauge Rage and the all star team, the Smokin' Ashes
I have predominantly been a jammer and am now honing my blocking skills and LOVE it. I love all positions on the track!
When it comes to gear, I love my Antik skates! I am a big fan of Killer 187 knee pads, love the Atom elbow pads, and Pro-tec helmets
My pre bout ritual is to bond with my team and eat right leading up to bout time. I also listen to music that pumps me up and puts me in the ZONE
While lacing up my skates I do positive self affirmations and picture my team dominating the track.
My favorite derby moment was this years Wild West Showdown and bringing home 3 victories with my team! It felt amazing after all our hard work!
I got involved wirh derby when my sister, Petty Rage, was bouting and I went to watch. At 44, I was in a rut mentally and physically and after watching the bout I knew I wanted to try derby. 5 years later it was the best decision ever. It changed my life, both mentally and physically.
My advice to women wanting to try derby is that this is way more fun than joining a gym, is great exercise and after you learn the basics and build muscles you never knew you had, you will be hooked on how empowering it is and how many amazing people you will be surrounded by!
My skate name was born when my boss's sister suggested Screamin' Meanie. When I googled it I found that it was the name of one of the fastest, toughest fighter jets ever made. I love all things fast and felt it suited me and gave me a goal to be fast and tough on the track.
My derby heroes at this point and time, and after seeing many amazing skaters in the past 5 years, are the Fresh Meat skaters. Coaching and seeing the brand new skaters go from barely skating and struggling to keep up, to bouting and being badass and making a team is my kind of hero.
My skating style is 100% tenacity and focus BOOM!
I don't really have a signature move but something I am known for is never giving up and giving it 110%.
My sport in high school was varsity gymnastics. Roller Derby and roller skating came along in my mid 40's and was new to me and very challenging.
When I am not skating, I cross train by running with my dog, walking numerous miles for my job as a pet care provider and mixing in strength training whenever I can. I love animals, the outdoors and taking adventures!
I want to thank the entire Lava City Roller Doll family for making the past 5 years so much fun, the coaches who give of their time and knowledge and all of our fans for making it possible!
